It’s been a while since King Tuff has released anything new! Sure, Happy Birthday kept our ear holes happy, but I’m thankful for his Wild Desire to record a new song under King Tuff! The limited edition 7″ is due out on April 3rd.

Erin and Tristan are bandmates, soulmates, and now husband and wife. They have toured together for over ten years as Absinthe Blind (or more recently, Headlights) on the road. These two love birds made sweet music when they tied the knot in an indie rock way. Having a DIY budget, they decided to have the intimate wedding in Tristan’s parents’ backyard garden.

I’m gathering quite the page of kick ass vendors/inspiration sites*. These are people in the industry that not only would you hire for your special day, but you can just as easily sit down with and have a beer (or coffee). And since Hi-Fi is all about the tunes in our lives, we’re gonna get to know what these peeps dig on musically.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, however the impeccable images produced by Studio Castillero render me speechless. From capturing the darling details to all of the pure emotions throughout a wedding – they nail each and every shot. If you’re in need of a swoon go get lost in their site! You can thank me later…after you’ve picked up your jaw and wiped away all the drool. Today I have the lovely Mrs. here to share some of her music insights and my couple crush just keeps growing and growing!

Can you describe your life (so far) in 3-5 songs?
*Girl From North Country by Bob Dylan (has been my favorite song for pretty much my whole life, it’s part of me)

*How to Disappear Completely by Radiohead (no, I’m not depressed, although did have my fair share of “angst” growing up which was well suited for my love of this band. I could define my life in song by them alone because every phase of my life is pretty much identified with a Radiohead album….yes, I know, I’m obsessed) <—-OMG ME TOO!!! YAY!

*That Dress Looks Nice on You by Sufjan Stevens (a tribute to all the weddings I attend and Sufjan got me through college, which wasn’t too long ago so still resonates with me strongly…probably always will)

*Rollercoaster by M.Ward (always think of this song when thinking back on life, or at least the first 23ish years of it)

What is your favorite love song?
Oh man, hard to narrow it down…Brand New Colony by Postal Service or True Love Waits by Radiohead

If you could go see anyone perform live who would it be?
Sufjan Stevens and Sigur Ros (concert has to be in a field in Iceland during a long summer night, since I’m dreaming here)

What is your preferred format of music?
hmmm…I don’t really have a preference but for convenience sake I’d say mp3 since they are a bit more portable than the others.

Are you a musician? If so, what do you play? If not, what would you play?
Well, I’d like to say I’m a musician because that’s one of my dreams, BUT not quite there (or even close). I do play the piano though, and that counts for something!

HAPPY FRIDAY! This week was pretty exciting for my husband and me! We signed the lease to our new record store space! It’s almost twice the size we’re in now so we’ll have plenty of room to continue having awesome shows. The move in date is hopefully the 15th of this month, so send us your strong man vibes…as moving over 20,000 records will surely cause some back aches.

OOOO LA-LA-LOVE! It only took the first sentence for me to know this wedding is a perfect fit for Hi-Fi! Since the love birds usually tell it best, I’ll hand the space for text over to Jacqueline:

Music is what brought Joann and I together. We met at a Tegan and Sara concert, and we’ve shared our love for all types of music ever since, so there was no doubt that music was a huge factor for us at our wedding. Joann being a HUGE (we’re talking tattooed with an entire sleeve of album art, lyrics and songs) The Cure fan, we knew we had to have their music as a special piece of the reception so we had a cover band “The Curse” play our wedding. We knew we wanted to incorporate “Love Song” by the Cure as our main song, because the lyrics are beautiful and represent how we feel for each other.

While Joann and Jacqueline specified a few songs for certain moments of their wedding, at the reception they had a list of artists they loved and the DJ was able to have fun and get funky!

Rabbit rabbit! 2012 seems to be following the 2011 tradition of flying by. I hope the first month of the new year treated you and yours well! Let’s dig into some wedding goodness, shall we?!

Who doesn’t love The Beatles? Actually, I may not want to know…(haha jk). Shelby and Joe celebrated their love with each other among the music and decor of their favorite band – The Beatles. I adore all of the elements they incorporated, especially the bright pink vinyl records! Add a dash of Star Wars and skateboards and Shelby and Joe’s passions are prominent at their gorgeous wedding!

It’s the end of January right? I mean, all of my calendars tell me so, but with the temperatures outside at 65+ degrees, it’s a little hard to believe. But hey, I’m the type that would prefer to sweat than shiver (I don’t handle the cold weather well at all!) I’m embracing the beautiful day with a super catchy tune that’s sure to raise your spirits…in case you are knee deep in snow or something. There’s lots of jingle jangle dancey awesomeness rolled up into a 3 minute and 34 second eargasm!

I know I don’t feature a ton of styled shoots, but that’s not to say I don’t love them! There just needs to be a music related WOW factor. Which brings me to today’s music festival styled shoot! Whatever your favorite fest might be (Coachella, Burning Man, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, SXSW, Fun Fun Fest, Gonerfest) they do have some common elements – your favorite music! Combine the music aspect with two people in love and with the best of the best festival foodies, and voila this styled shoot was born!

At the time Shadows of Knight first started recording, the band’s self-description was as follows: “The Stones, Animals and Yardbirds took the Chicago Blues and gave it an English interpretation. We’ve taken the English version of the Blues and re-added a Chicago touch.” Seems pretty fitting don’t ya think? Give these songs a whirl and tell me you don’t agree!
