The Fresh & Onlys – Peacock & Wing
I love The Fresh & Onlys so much! My husband and I (and several of our friends) went to Memphis to see them (and a whole lotta favs) perform at Gonerfest 6 and it was a blast! This song is from their debut album, which is probably my favorite. I’m also posting the lyrics to the song this time because it’s fun to sing along (or sing to your beau) once you know the words.
“You should really be my fresh and only
You’d have a smile on your face that I could always see on you
Lay with me in my bed of roses
You’d have a smile on your face that I could only see on you
And the smile won’t lie, it will always be straight
And I refuse to believe that I could not see these things with my eyes when they’re open”

I also really enjoy this recent interview with Tim Cohen, the front man. Here’s a snip-it: I’m trying – to some degree – to keep records going. A lot of the bands in San Francisco are very vinyl and live-performance-oriented. So we’re lucky. We’re lucky people have heard our music and are somehow focused on the San Francisco scene and taking note of what we’ve done.
