Lizzie & Isaiah’s Windy City Engagement
I luuuurrrrve* getting emails from REAL LIFE OMG brides. Ever since the first contact with Lizzie, I knew we were peas in a pod! We gush like giddy school girls passing notes in class on each others blog. It’s so fun making connections with such rad peeps all across the globe. Hands down my FAVORITE thing about this whole site…well, and the music lol. I love that Lizzie and Isaiah are including a peep into the music that has played a role in their relationship along with their badass engagement photos. Such a neat element to know about a couple!
Top 5 Albums
Grace – Jeff Buckley
Parachutes – Coldplay
Illinoise – Sufjan Stevens
Hail to the Thief – Radiohead (YUMMY!)
Up From Below – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
Photographer: Kristiane Smith
We were lucky enough to find a great student photographer by scanning Craigslist, who also happened to go to the same University as me! She had a wicked portfolio, she didn’t break the bank too hard, and we had a great experience with her. We took her out for sushi beforehand, something I definitely recommend, to get to know her and let her get to know us. If we hadn’t, I’m not sure our pictures would’ve turned out so uniquely us.
Location: The Square in downtown Denton, Texas. We used Beth Marie’s Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Shop for some and Recycled Books for others…we’re lucky to have such a scenic downtown area with the old courthouse and trees and what not.
The quilt we used was made my great-grandma, (just had her 90th birthday this year!). She made one for me and my three cousins when we graduated high-school and she goes to quilting every Wednesday! In a way, my great-grandparents love is something we aspire to, and in addition, with the quilt’s sentimental value to me, we wanted to be sure to include it.
Music has played such a ridiculously essential part in our relationship. We met during karaoke, I swooned over his version of Coldplay’s “Yellow,” we were both in bands in Illinois and we are just music snobs in general. We make a point to go to concerts together and to dig for new music regularly. We’re also huge fans of Ashley’s marvelous work here on Hi-Fi Weddings, so we had to be sure to give her a shout out! (awwww shucks guys!!! my cheeks are red!)

What beautiful pictures of a beautiful couple. I couldn’t hold back my tears as soon as I saw you two splitting a shake.
