A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Julia & Carter’s Chi-Town Celebration
I get super excited when I meet new souls that are passionate about music and how it affects their lives. I love that Julia and Carter included a description for why they chose each particular song! Amy Boyle sent me this Chicago wedding via Two Bright Lights!
Yay music!
“Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey: a throwback to our college days; one of the songs that we knew would pump up everyone our age in the room
“All the Way” by Harry Connick Jr.: one of our favorite artists, and it’s the song we practiced to and fell in love with a few weeks before the wedding
“Call on Me” by Eric Prydz: a huge hit that involved tequila shots and general rowdiness amongst us and our friends when studying abroad in Europe
“La Camisa Negra” by Juanes: another hit by the acclaimed Colombian singer Juanes, that was incredibly popular when we were in Europe
“Fins” by Jimmy Buffet: a wedding classic in the Finn family at all of their weddings and reunions
“Cute Without the E” by Taking Back Sunday: one of our favorite songs that we both loved in college; we saw this band live in 2004 (along with Jimmy Eat World) soon after we started dating
“Banquet” by Bloc Party: a great, upbeat song from a British band that Julia started listening to in 2003 when she was living in London; her brother introduced them to me and I own all of their albums
“Kids” by MGMT: a band I first heard while working in Dublin and soon grew to know more intimately over the past few years; we saw them play live at Lollapalooza this year
“Reptilia” by the Strokes: one of Julia’s favorite bands whom she fell in love with in high school; I grew to know them through college and we now own all of their albums
“All the Single Ladies” by Beyonce: a tribute both to all of Julia’s single lady friends and to the SNL skit featuring Beyonce Knowles, Justin Timberlake, Andy Sandberg, and Bobby Moynihan. It’s one of our favorites from the show and laugh together every time we see it
