A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Karli & Caleb’s Candid Celebration
You know when a talented artist gets hitched it’s gonna be good, especially when the entire family is musically talented. There are so many details and candid moments that make for the perfect blend of a wedding story. See what happens when so many wonderful elements are combines…meet Karli and Caleb and their Gorgeous Day:
Prelude: original instrumental tune by friends Symmetry/Symmetry, a three piece rock group from Portland
Procession: “I’ll Hold You in my Heart” – the Eddie Arnold version performed by friend Joel Smith along with upright bass and pedal steel
Bridal March: “Thule” – written by The Album Leaf, performed live by Symmetry/Symmetry (it was so magical!)
Unity Sand: “Once Voice” – written by the Wailin’ Jenny’s, performed by two of the bridesmaids and a dear friend
Communion Song: “In the Garden” performed by Caleb’s grandfather and brother
Recessional: “Two of Us” – The Beatles (we played this one from and ipod…nobody hears the recession anyways)
First Dance: “The Way You Look Tonight” – performed by Karli’s brother’s band and sung by friend Annie Stillar
Father/Daughter Mother/Son Dance: “What a Wonderful World” – performed by Karli’s brothers band and sung by Caleb’s brother Scott Ryan
The beginning of the dance portion was to my brother’s blues band, The Booze Fighters, playing old blues shuffle tunes and covers like “Johnny be Good.” it was so loud and lively, everyone got up and danced.
The remainder of the dancing was DJ-ed by Caleb’s cousin Davey. Caleb and I are both musicians and so are our families. We wanted as many musicians to be a part of the wedding as possible. It all came out perfect! The music was my favorite part of the whole day.
The one thing that made it all possible were our two friends Kory Kruckenberg and Christopher Webber who ran sound boards and setup all day long. You can’t have good live music without good sound engineers…especially when you have a big wedding.
