A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Rosa & Doug’s Sixties Shindig
Saying that Rosa and Doug are fans of the 60s is a huge understatement. This vintage era is apparent in their style, home, and of course – their wedding! The decor, attire, and (of course) music was all appropriately dated…including the fact that all THREE DJs spun good ole’ fashioned records. In addition to the wax spinnin’ there was also surf style dancin’ when the Glasgow Tiki Shakers played! Peep on to one of my favorite weddings to grace the site!
The 1st DJ was Dan Melendez or “Dan Electro” (he’s the guy behind LA’s mod club Club au Go Go & resident DJ at The Bullet). Some of the Bride and Groom’s favorites from his session:
Julian Covey & The Time Machine – “A Little Bit Hurt”
Bobby Valentin – “Use It Before You Lost It”
Pappy’s Haunted House – “Dude”
The Majestics – “I love Her So Much It Hurts”
The 2nd DJ was Marv Mack (guy behind LA’s only 60s soul club, Soulside). Some favorites of the couple:
Fantastic Four – “Ain’t Love Grand”
Barbara Mason – “Ain’t Got Nobody”
Shirley Ellis – “The Clapping Song”
The 3rd DJ (who also served as MC) is Mark Tortorici (http://marktortorici.com/). He played mostly 50s/early 60s wedding/lounge/instrumental standards.
First Dance Song: The Zombies – “This Will Be Our Year”
First Couples Dance Song: Bobby Darin – “Beyond the Sea”
And finally, here’s a GROOVY video to give you a feel of how exactly awesome this wedding dance party was!

This is one of the best wedding’s I’ve seen in awhile. I’ve forwarded this on to a bunch of brides. LOOOOVE the dance video. Everyone needs a “lady in the gray dress” at their reception.

This wedding looks great! On the random tip, I went to a friend’s wedding at the Grove in LA and she had this same officiant who said the most sweetest and greatest things, and it’s nice to see him at this wedding too.

Thanks for the nice words, everyone! I’m so flattered that our wedding is featured!
Erica- Alan Katz, our officiant, was the 1st person that popped up in a Google search. We met with him & loved him! He was PERFECT! Knew exactly what to say & what mood to set. He’s amazing at what he does!
