A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Lisa & Alex’s Seattle Shindig
Lisa and Alex are from Manchester England. They both recently quit their jobs, sold all of their belongings, and set off on a two year trip around the world! To make matters even more interesting they decided to get married in all of the different cities along the way. They’ve been at it now for several months, and the talented Jonas Seaman shot wedding number eight for them while they were in Seattle.
Jonas describes: “They pulled up in their little camper-van which has been their home for a few months now while they’ve been on this continent. They got ready right there in the van and we took some photos around Volunteer Park. We then drove down to the water front where they actually got permission to get married in The Pike Place Market. We found out later that they are only the second couple ever to be allowed to be married within the market itself. They just showed up there with a minister and started the ceremony. Passers by didn’t know what to make of it at first. Then when they realized it was a wedding, people just started gathering around taking pictures. It was so cool! When it was done, the little crowd that had gathered cheered!”
Now comes the music “twist”! Since there was not an actual playlist for each wedding, Lisa and Alex complied a list of artists that they’ve been listening to (White Stripes, Michael Jackson, Jack Johnson, Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette, Arctic Monkeys, and Florence and the Machine). However, it has been songs that have come on the radio that has stuck with them most during their trek across Canada, America, and now Latin America. These are songs that they know whenever they hear them later on in life, it will remind them of their journey.
Aint No Sunshine – Bill Withers
Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes – Paul Simon
My Best Friend’s Girl – The Cars
You Gotta Be – Des’ree
One Week – Bare Naked ladies
Breakfast at Tiffanys – Deep Blue Something
This Kiss – Faith Hill
Waterfalls – TLC
Haven’t Met You Yet – Michael Buble
I’m Like a Bird – Nelly Furtado
Another One Bites the Dust – Queen
Highway to Hell – AC/DC
Electric Avenue – Eddy Grant
Cloud Number Nine – Bryan Adams
The Tide is High – Blondie
Summertime – Will Smith
The Whole Of The Moon – Waterboys
Kiss Me – Sixpence None The Richer
Every Morning – Sugar Ray
Lazy Song – Bruno Mars
What’s Love Got To Do With It – Tina Turner
Freebird – Lyrnrd Skynrd
Rumor Has it – Adele
Dude Looks Like A Lady – Aerosmith
When I’m 64 – Beatles
Roxanne – Sting
HAH! Fun fact: Okay. Now that last song, Roxanne, comes with an English drinking game that Lisa and Alex have been introducing to Americans as they travel. Here are the rules. Every time Sting sings ‘Roxanne’ one side of the room must stand up, take a drink while spinning around, and then sit down again. Every time Sting sings ‘Put On The Red Light’ the other side of the room must stand up, take a drink while spinning around, and then sit down again.
