John & Mary-Katherine’s Record Proposal
What better way to welcome Monday with a sweet Record Store Engagement! John and Mary-Katherine have quite the cute tale, and I’ll let MK explain just how darling John’s proposal was (seriously, you’ll melt like vinyl on a hot Summer day!):
With the setting sun and Birmingham skyline as our audience, John asked me the one question that changed my life for the better. Earlier in the week John had called and asked if I was up for him grabbing Friday’s dinner and then heading over to Railroad Park for an early evening picnic; of course I said yes and after a long day that Friday, nothing sounded better. After pulling up to the park, John starting grabbing the food and quilts out of the trunk. I noticed that he had something that looked like a white stack of papers, which I naggingly accused him of being medical school study notes (which he assured me was not true and that it was rather something funny that he had come across). When we set up our picnic spot, John asked me if I wanted to see what “he had come across” before we ate. I agreed and he handed over the mysterious package wrapped in white. Upon opening it, I found that it encased a vinyl record with the name of our self-proclaimed band gracing the cover. Initially I thought that he had found a band with the same name as ours and thought I would find it ironic and a nice addition to my vinyl record collection, but after turning the album over I saw an impressive stenciled portrait of us with a track list that he had tweaked to be about us!!! He then told me to open it up and when I did, in bold gold letters it read “Will You Marry Me?” After a moment of utter shock and pure joy, I said “YES!”.
