Guest Mix: DJ Chris Mix of Scratch Weddings
Over the next few weeks I’ve invited a variety of DJs from Scratch Weddings to supply a guest mix! Each mix will be based on a certain part of the wedding day, and will hopefully provide you with some musical inspiration for your day! Today, DJ Chris Mix shares some of his favorite tunes for the father/daughter dance!
This is always a tough song to pick because the selection is somewhat limited. It’s even more challenging if your taste in music doesn’t line up with Dad’s. To find a song that makes you both happy and shows the importance of your relationship, consider selecting a modern version of Dad’s favorite song, like a Michael Bublé cover of Frank Sinatra or even a Queen song. Below, some of my recommendations. Classics: “Have You Seen Her Face” – The Byrds “God Only Knows” – The Beach Boys “Pretty Woman” – Roy Orbison “Teach Your Children” – Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young “Wonderful World” – Louis Armstrong “Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel)” – Billy Joel For the Rocker Dad: “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” – Queen “Make Me Smile” – Chicago “Somebody’s Baby” – Jackson Browne “She’s The One” – Bruce Springsteen For the Smooth Dad: “Never Too Much” – Luther Vandross “Thank You” – Boyz II Men “Sugar Dumpling” – Sam Cooke “Isn’t She Lovely” – Stevie Wonder – For the Funny Dad: “Sharp Dressed Man” – ZZ Top “(I Know) I’m Losing You” – The Temptations “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” – Frank Sinatra “She’s Gone” – Hall & Oates ”Best Of My Love” – Eagles For the Bookish, Cool Dad: “Happy Just To Dance With You” – The Beatles “Daughters of the Soho Riots” – The National “Wildflowers” – Tom Petty “Daughters” – John Mayer https://www.powerball-lottery.org/news-and-tips

Great suggestions! I know if my dad was still with us, we would totally be dancing to Sharp Dressed Man. I may still do it as a dance in memory of him. Another great suggestion is Paul Simon’s “Father and Daughter.” 🙂

Don’t forget Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young.” Leaves out that weird touch while paying homage to the bride’s growing up!
