Katherine sent me her gorgeous photos of the two lovebirds, Katie and Kevin. I found her blog and thought it was a sign that the first post I come across has an e-session featuring lyrics from some of the songs we have featured on our Tunes Page. I can’t wait to see what Katie and Kevin’s wedding will look like and what sort of music they will play. Hopefully Hi-Fi Weddings will get to feature it!

Katie was sweet to write a little explanation behind their engagement session!

Kevin’s taste in music is probably one of the first things that attracted me to him. We both have an appreciation for many different kinds of music, but I LOVE folk and bluegrass and here comes this cute boy from Texas that has a plethora of fantastic folk, country and bluegrass music and much of it new stuff that I’ve never heard before, swoon! Not to mention he has as much passion for “must have bands” (Radiohead, Muse, Death Cab, Raconteurs, etc., etc.) as I do! Although music is obviously not the only reason I love this guy, it is a HUGE part of our lives together. Even some our most favorite movies are centered around music (Almost Famous, Across The Universe, Walk The Line)! We are big fans of music festivals and tend to plan vacations around them (especially Bonnaroo, ACL, Old Settler’s, and Kerrville Folk Festival), we love to discover new artists and see live shows. We frequently spend Friday nights with a box of pizza, a bottle of wine and our iPods/iTunes spending hours listening to our favorites and discovering new artists. Or head on over to our favorite honky tonks (The Broken Spoke or Gruene Hall) to dance the night away to fantastic live bands. In fact, the accessibility to live music is one of the main reasons that we decided to move to Austin, TX after finishing grad school. We are so spoiled to live in an area that has such creative and talented musicians and community that supports them!

When Katherine suggested that our engagement photo shoot should be a reflection of us and the things we love to do, it made perfect sense to do the shoot at Waterloo Records and then have a picnic at Mr. Bonnell because this is something that we often do. For our engagement photo book, Kevin and I wanted to incorporate some of the lyrics from songs that were a big part of our relationship and that are being featured on our wedding “album” (which we are giving out CDs of to our guests) into the design. Haha, being the sappy and in love audiofiles that we are, we even joke that we “found the harmony to our melody” in each other. We think that Katherine did such a great job of capturing this for us in the photos and designing our book to show this! We feel so lucky to have found her.
