A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Max & Margaux’s Marital Magic
I’m sure most of you have seen Max and Margaux’s wedding all across blogland as it raged like wedding wildfire! And while everyone has done a great job highlighting the sweet details, or the amazing love that shines between these two, there’s still one major element left untouched! Cue Hi-Fi Weddings cause now it’s time to satisfy your music curiosity!
The whole crew of Flashdance did a phenomenal job covering all the aspects of this amazing backyard affair, but I am particularly thrilled that Michael sent over an hour’s worth of music that he played. So taaaaa-da! The final element of M&M’s magical marriage is in place: the music!

Straight from the fingertips of Michael: max and margaux had a band play the very beginning of the night so we all got a chance to hang, enjoy each others company, and some food! the band was the bluegrass hoppers and they were fantastic! they are a completely traditional bluegrass group, period attire, instruments, 5 part harmonies, the whole bit… well as you can tell, i LOVED them!
so after they played for an hour or so i started and i couldn’t really launch into anything too modern after that so i warmed the crowd up with some classic soul and b-boy breaks… lucky for me this was a pretty hip audience and they just got right up there and started dancing up a storm! one of the stand out tracks was nina simone’s “mosquito’s tweeter” which is a huge track for me, and not easy to dance to!! later i moved into some newer stuff but this part of the set will be a big memory for all of us.
that and (i had to add this in there) this was a backyard wedding and around 10pm the cops came and told us to shut it down (bummer days!) well we played a few more jams including a big favorite of max’s “home” by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros (edward and max met in kindergarten and went to grade school together!!) anyway once most of the guests had left jesse and whitney (our labor of love) wanted to shoot a few more portraits so i put on the new beach house record – teen dream (my personal [and now by default, all my friends’] new favorite record) and just let the whole thing play through. i sent everyone on our team home with a new favorite band and a copy of the record that night and solidified “take care” as max and margaux’s new favorite song which i count among the many victories of their wedding!
