A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Chris & Gina’s Glorious Reception
Dear Gina and Chris, thanks for being so awesome! Both the cutie pie that is Gina and her bearded hubbyman Chris are music fanatics and did it up right come wedding and reception time! I love that they gave out (THREE) cd favors based on songs they loved during certain times…what a unique spin on the idea!
My husband, Chris, and I have been together since high school, in fact, we got hitched on our 11th year anniversary (mostly because we didn’t want to change our existing anniversary day). Throughout our 11 years together, music has been a big component in our relationship. As we grew and matured together, so did our musical choices. My husband and I are very anti-top-40s-bubblegum-music (although we do have some weak points, him being hip hop and me being Taylor Swift–believe me, we have some self-loathing going on), we love our hip indie-rock music along with a lot of music from the 50s, 60s and early 70s. So when it came to our wedding music, we wanted it to be a breath of fresh air. I didn’t want to walk down to any song out of the “wedding music” album listing. So as soon as we were engaged the music became my top priority.
Chris, for his part, had always wanted to give out CDs of music for our favors. So we each picked 11 love songs from each year we’ve been together (1999-2010). We had 3 CDs to give out at the reception, #1: Gina’s Picks, #2: Chris’s Picks, #3: Moore Picks (Moore being our lastname). So without further adieu, our musical choices:
We got married at the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas, 30 friends and family members were there to celebrate with us. We kindly asked our coordinator if we could make our own CD for the ceremony, thankfully she obliged.
Ceremony Music
Seating Music: Crazy Love by Van Morrison
Groom’s Entrance w/Witnesses: You Can Have It All by Yo La Tengo
Bridal Entrance: Keep It That Way by Sing-Sing
Processional: What is Life by George Harrison
Our reception was three weeks later in Kansas City where we gave out our CD favors and had traditional bridal party dances etc…
Reception Music
Bride Groom Entry Music: Higher and Higher by Theodore Shapiro and Craig Wedren (from the Wet Hot American Summer Soundtrack)
First Dance: God Only Knows by the Beach Boys
Father/Bride Dance: In My Life by the Beatles
Mother/Groom Dance: I’ll Always Love My Momma by the Intruders (Chris’s mom is a huge Motown fan)
Cake Cutting: Your the Best by Joe Esposito (from the Karate Kid Soundtrack)
