Meet the Vendor: Dapper Paper
I’m gathering quite the page of kick ass vendors/inspiration sites*. These are people in the industry that not only would you draw inspiration from for your special day, but you can just as easily sit down with and have a beer (or coffee). And since Hi-Fi is all about the tunes in our lives, we’re gonna get to know what these peeps dig on musically.
Trees can only hope they are lucky enough to become a product of dapper paper. The peeps behind such great looking paper products also know how to rock it right to some good tunes! Not to mention they are a husband and wife duo (power couples unite!) that know design inside and out! Double bonus: they are BOTH musicians! Read on to learn more about these two and the music in their lives!
Can you describe your life (so far) in 3-5 songs?
Oh my gosh, you are killing me?! 3-5 songs?! Chris really craves a good hook (probably comes from his killer guitar skills). I’m a little more edgy and indie when it comes to music but we share lots of favorites. I went back and fourth for so long…I mean, it’s impossible to choose 5, but I chose some that mean something.
-Tom Petty – Learning to Fly
-Thad Cockrell – Rosalyn (this is actually a good friend of ours that we played with at church. He’s been an amazing artist in Nashville for a long time and recently moved back there from NC) this song is the perfect blend of the southern feel and melodies we love and I adore singing with thad.
-Ryan Adams – So Alive
-Fleetwood Mac – Landslide
-Arcade Fire – Wake Up
What is your favorite love song?
Really?! AHHHH! I don’t know if I can answer this! Probably for the lyrics alone, the song I walked down the aisle to, “Umbrellas” by Sleeping at Last. The lyrics are gorgeous and they speak of such real love that’s not just sex or passion but true caring and adoration, and the long haul of life and that is love to me…oh And anything Otis Redding ever sang.
If you could go see anyone perform live who would it be?
Lordy! another impossible question. Um, you know I guess I would have to go with a legend like Otis Redding. You know, someone you can’t see now and will never be able to. Or, David Bowie (yes, i know there is a possibility you could see him today because he is alive, but who doesn’t want to see him?!)
What is your preferred format of music?
I wish we were cool enough to say vinyl. I actually used to listen to it more when my parents had a record player and records, but now, we are mp3 geeks. We actually talked about buying a record player though because we do want to get into vinyl more (any cool factor with intentions? no? okay).
Are you a musician? If so, what do you play? If not, what would you play?
Yes, we are both musicians. I grew up playing the piano and then learned guitar. chris is a ridiculously good guitar player. And we both sing. We have both played in various bands throughout the years and in fact, it’s how we met: at a show Chris’ band was playing. We just love music. We love playing it, writing it, being around it. We now actually play in a band at our church, Vintage 21, together. Chris plays electric and I sing and play keys.
