A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Jamie & Tim Tie the Knot
I love hearing when couples meet over music…mainly because that was what started the fire between me and my husband. I’ll never forget the first time we hung out and I was flipping through his cds in his car (he had/has a collection of over 800, so this was just a small sample). I blurted out “geez I wonder what it’s like to be your girlfriend” and he (understandably) gave me a confused look. I think I blabbed on about how “every moment has a perfect soundtrack” or something along those lines. After weirding him out, I thought i had blown it. But four years later, we’re the best of (married!) friends who can’t get enough of each other…and we do have a killer soundtrack, if I do say so myself.
Now, meet Jamie and Tim…two lovebirds that love music! Tim and I met online 7 years ago on Friendster (does anyone even remember Friendster??) and our connection began through music! As my sister and co-MOH said in her speech, “The best decision Tim ever made was when he messaged Jamie on Friendster and said ‘Hey, you like the Flaming Lips! Cool, me too.’ which sounds much better than ‘Hey, you’re hot and in my zipcode’ ” lol! (In fact, the only reason I responded to him was because he didn’t say anything about my looks, which was always the basis for any random message I had previously received. He actually read my profile, what a shocker!) I was interning in NYC at the time, but went to school in Cincinnati and he lived right across the river in northern Kentucky. We became instant e-penpals for the whole 3 months I was in NYC and when I came back he asked me to come see Jazz Mandolin, the side project of Phish drummer John Fishman, at a local bar. It was the shortest email he had ever written to me but he confessed later that it took him the longest to write!
Well, after that the rest is history. He and I have been together ever since and got married after 6 1/2 years. We have traveled the midwest to see all kinds of shows, attend music festivals, and have even gone as far as Red Rocks in Colorado and The Gorge Ampitheatre in Washington to see our favorite band, Phish. There is nothing we love more than rocking out to live music! This is why a live band and a fantastic dance party were essential to make our wedding a success. Our lovely friends Heather and Katie, of Tupelo Honey, played and sang beautifully for our ceremony. Tim made some excellent playlists for our guests to mingle and mix to for the cocktail hour and dinner. And our friend Dave’s band, Phiasco, ROCKED our reception and everyone got down, even those who don’t usually let loose! It was exactly the party we anticipated and planned for!

Great music selection. I like that the groom really took ownership of the music.

Thanks girls 🙂 Whenever my husband plays DJ we really never go wrong so I knew he’d do an amazing job with the play lists.
