A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Kyle & Heather’s Sunset Ceremony
Boy meets girl – boy loves music, girl loves music – boy and girl fall in love! That’s the kind of love story I like to hear! The boy and girl in this particular story are Kyle and Heather. These two cool cats did some really cool stuff incorporating their favorite artists throughout the wedding and reception….and when it came down to choosing the songs, they certainly had their reasons!
Seating of the guests: Concerning Hobbits, Samwise the Brave, Into the West
(Music from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, some of our favorite movies)
Seating of the Parents and Grandparents: Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath
Wedding Party Entrance: You and Me by Lifehouse
Entrance of the Bride: God Bless the Broken Road, acoustic instrumental version
(When the Rascal Flatts version of this song came out it was one of the first songs that we both could identify with and relate it to our relationship with each other)
Unity Candle: Guardian Angel by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Exit of Bride and Groom: Won’t Back Down by Tom Petty
Introductions for Reception: It’s My Life by Bon Jovi
(Bon Jovi is one of Heather’s favorite bands of all time. We were desperately trying to fit Bon Jovi in somewhere and this was the perfect fit.)
First Dance: Just Right by July for Kings
(We searched high and low for months for a first dance song and we couldn’t find anything. We both wanted a song that we had never heard before so it would be special to the both of us. Finally at about 12AM after 2 hours of reading suggestions online we found this song and it was perfect.)
Daddy Daughter Dance: The Gnome by Pink Floyd
(This was special for Heather in so many ways. Pink Floyd is one of her Dad’s favorite bands and this was Heather’s lullaby when she was growing up. It brought everything full circle for Heather.)
Mother Son Dance: Young at Heart by Frank Sinatra
Last Dance of the Night: America the Beautiful by Ray Charles
(There is such a story behind this song. We got married on July 3, 2010 and seeing as the next day was the 4th of July it was only fitting to end the night with this song. The song was also featured in one of our favorite movies of all time, a movie that kind of helped start our relationship, The Sandlot, a film about baseball in the summer time. At the beginning of our relationship it was summer and one of the very first times we hung out together was at an Evansville Otters baseball game. We can truly say that summer is our favorite season and baseball is our favorite sport.)
A lot of the dancing music that was played was from the 1980s and early 1990s. This was great because it was music that the majority of people at our wedding knew and could get up and move around to.
To identify which table the guests were to sit at for dinner they used the album covers of some of their favorite bands and groups. Such as:
Tacking Back Sunday – New Again
Bon Jovi – Bounce
Oasis – What’s the Story Morning Glory
Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here
JET – Get Born
Donavon Frankenreiter – Move by Yourself
