A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Lyndsay & Brian’s Pom Pom Party
I’m going to state the obvious: these pom poms are AMAZING! Such a fun and unique detail that can add pops of color or blend in with your decor…whatever your heart desires. Lyndsay and Brian went with the brightly hued balls of yarn that made for striking photos! Let’s not forget the romantic light-up tree that illuminated the dance “floor”. Oh, and get this – Brian’s first degree is in music, so that just seals the deal!
Processional: “Better Together” by Jack Johnson
Recessional: Celebration Mix of “Wavin’ Flag” by K’Naan
(The Celebration Mix was used extensively during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. We loved this song already because of its celebratory nature, and we also liked it as a nod to our South African family present at the wedding, including Brandon, who married us.)
First Dance: “Beale Street Blues” by Canadian Brass
(Brian’s first degree is in music, and early on in our relationship – we weren’t even dating yet – I asked him to make me a mix CD of music he liked. The first song on that mix was a version of Beale Street Blues. I fell in love with the song immediately, and forever after, it always reminded me of Brian. So, I suggested that we use that song as our first dance, and Brian happily agreed.)
Dad/Daughter Dance: “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” by Sophie Milman
Mother/Son: “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong
During the circle at the end we sang “Auld Lang Syne” and it’s a Scottish tradition. Brian’s heritage is Scottish, and the circle was led by Chris Hodgins, our Glaswegian guest who is married to Gonca (my Turkish sister, who was a bridesmaid.)

the pom poms were a really fun interactive idea- after using them during the ceremony exit- the kids played with them all night long… I even saw a bridesmaid show off her juggling skills at the end of the night!
