Kelsey & Jim’s Bear Love
This fun-loving, free-spirited couple sent me their lovely engagement session as well as their idea behind their invites, and holy moly – hold onto your hats for this one! Kelsey explains how she and Jim pulled it all together:
We got the idea from a video Christmas card that we saw the December before the wedding. After that we knew that it would be the most unique invitation we could make, that reflected our personalities and showed what kind of atmosphere we wanted for our big day. This is a link to our invitation; we filmed our trip to San Diego, going back to where we got engaged, and the pier where Jim proposed. We then visited the spot where our ceremony would take place and drove our guests to the restaurant where our reception would be held. We had tons of fun filming this and I was so impressed with my hubby’s ability to edit it. The whole video was set to Matt and Kim’s “Daylight” which I was and still am obsessed with, (it is actually the song that we came into our reception to as well). We got some CD cases, copied the DVDs and had a local design spot whip up some folding inserts with our e-session (by the wonderful Sloan Photographers) on it and our formal invite, for the inside of the case. It actually was a super affordable endeavor and I think it was cheaper than invites would have been!
Our close group of friends have an inside joke where we all have “bear” names. (I’m Koala, and my hubby is “The Oso”) The pic on the front of the insert with the bears was drawn by Jim’s favorite artist Philip Lumbang, who does graffiti art based out of LA. He did an original print for us which we photographed and put on the front.
