Two song lyrics by the Beatles came to mind when I first read Allie’s email about her wedding: “All you need is love” and “I get by with a little help from my friends” (and family, in Allie and Rene’s case). From the food, to the decor, and everything in between their family and friends pitched in and helped make everything possible. These two also had a lot of “hands-on” project themselves, including a mix CD favor for guests! Allie gives a bit more of a description:

We wanted a backyard BBQ with our nearest and dearest with a Texas twist. We served BBQ brisket that was catered, but the rest of our food was made by my mother, my godmother, my brother, and my grandmother. For dessert we had 11 different kinds of pie. Our wedding was possible only by the love of our friends and family. The ceremony was written by Rene and the vows had deep meaning for us as I hope they do for everyone! Rene is a musician, he plays guitar and took up the ukele recently. He is mega talented and we have a very eclectic taste in music as you can see. Rene is a huge Mike Kinsella/Owen fan, as am I by Rene’s praises and our processional was just perfect and made Rene emotional in itself because of the meaning of that song for him. It was very special.

Our biggest DIY project was our favors. We made mix CD’s with songs that were going to be played at our wedding. On our cardboard cases we handstamped with screen printing ink a “mason jar love stamp” and on the back we did the same with our names and wedding date. We signed each CD with our names and date also. It was a true labor of love. Rene and I DIYed so much, our wedding was definitely us.
