A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Stephanie & Brett’s Beer, Music, & Fun Times
Remember the beer-gagement session I featured yesterday?! Now here’s the Hi-Fi Wedding of the awesome Stephanie and Brett! I gotta admit, it makes me so giddy when I see Radiohead on the playlist (not once, but thrice! Yay!). Also, I simply adore how they decided what to play during cocktail hour…what a fun and unique idea for such avid concert-goers! Anyway, without further ado, straight from Stephanie herself:
Brett and I met online on a dating website. We both had references to songs we liked in our user names. Mine was Yoshimi from the song “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” by the Flaming Lips and his was DoveWrestler from the Shins song “Gone for Good”. Our first date involved us meeting at a local beer pub, and unknowingly purchasing the same beer out of 50 different beer taps, and then going to see some live music by a band called Theater Fire. At the end of the date, he presented me with a CD I had been wanting from our local record store. It was The Reminder by Feist. Our relationship blossomed from there and involved lots of beer tastings and live concerts, leading to an engagement, and finally a wedding.
For our wedding, we wanted to incorporate how we met and what was important to us into the event. So we decided to brew our own beer for the reception and choose our own music for the ceremony and cocktail hour. We figured not everyone at the wedding would like our music selection, so we let the DJ have free reign after the cocktail hour.
Pre-Ceremony and Ceremony
Prelude: The Party – St. Vincent
Ambulance – TV On The Radio
Only You – Portishead
Hate It Here – Wilco
When You Love Somebody – Fruit Bats
La Femme D’Argent – Air
Groom Entrance: Meeting In The Aisle – Radiohead
Parents Entrance: Rose Parade – Elliott Smith
Bridal Party Processional: Pitter Patter Goes My Heart – Broken Social Scene
Bride Processional: Hoppípolla – Sigur Rós
Recessional: Weird Fishes/Arpeggi – Radiohead
For the cocktail hour, Stephanie and Brett did something a bit more special. They only played songs from artists they had seen perform live together. Apparently, their first attempt at the list was close to 3 hours long! After lots of debate, they ended up narrowing it down closer to an hour with a variety of new and old songs. Gotta admit, I’m totally jealous of some of the acts they’ve seen live!
