A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Eliza & Alex’s Pier Passion
Some couples have the same favorite songs, while others embrace their partner’s eclectic tastes. Eliza and Alex are the latter. While they like to joke on each other about music preferences, they do have a mutual sweet spot and all of the song choices made for their wedding day were done mutually. Alex was in charge of the reception pre-dance-floor mix, and Eliza was in charge of the dance floor mix. Which made sense for them. Apparently, Alex has “much more interesting, artsy taste in music, whereas it can be hard to convince Eliza to leave a dance floor”.
I love this sentence they included with their email: The wonderful thing that came out of this is that in some ways, our wedding playlists were like a soundtrack to our relationship. As I typed out these lists for the blog feature, I thought about so many fantastic memories that are linked to these songs, all brought together in the one memory of our wedding day. Love it.

*The word ‘cut’ in brackets indicates where they shortened a song so that people didn’t get tired and leave the dance floor.
Another note from the love birds: It is possibly also worth noting that all the music for the wedding wound up being free. The venue had just installed a new (killer, LOUD) sound system, we brought an iPod and a backup iPod with us, with our carefully pre-made mixes on there (complete with crossfading and silences cut, cut down tracks that were too long, etc) and that was it! People talk about whether you can do this or not, and tell horror stories about how using an iPod playlist can wreck your wedding music. We really cared about getting our music right, and I can tell you right now, you CAN do this and have it work out fine. We did not have to think about the music once the entire time; it just worked, and it was perfect.
