A Real Hi-Fi Wedding: Kelcey & Melanie’s Magical Music Moments
I don’t even know where to begin with this wedding. Even the signature cocktails were inspired by music! And the tambourine favors – how radtastic can you get?! Melanie and Kelcey are music lovers through and through. I let them tell you just how wonderful their day was:
My best friend got married in Big Sur this summer, so we were driving down the coast when we began our search for songs. We never had “a song” as a couple, so we just knew we needed to find something that we both felt passionate about. We ended up really digging into the George Harrison album: All Things Must Pass.
The ceremony was our favorite moment of the day. We had everyone sitting in a close circle around us which made everything feel really intimate. Kelcey and I loved the energy of “Awaiting On You All” by George Harrison as the first song to play once we were officially married. Since music is such a big part of our lives, it felt only natural to have all of our guests play along to the song with their own tambourine. So we decided to have mini tambourines as our wedding favor. Kelcey hand-carved a stamp out of a linoleum block, and stamped each and every tambourine with our wedding colors to say: Melcey Love 8-19-12. They were a really fun addition to the weekend!
One amazing surprise of the night was a song written by two of Kelcey’s bandmates. Right after the toasts, they walked up to the mics and picked up guitars. We had no idea they had been working on something for us. It was incredibly sweet and thoughtful, and one of my favorite memories from our wedding day.
Tal (Pharmacie) had us pick three songs that represented favorite moments from our relationship to help inspire our cocktails. We ended up picking: All My Friends – LCD Soundsystem which was a French 75 inspired lemon/gin/champagne cocktail. Everything in Its Right Place – Radiohead which was a dark bourbon drink. Graceland – Paul Simon which had natural celery root and grapefruit syrups and gin.
