I’m stoked for today as I am shooting one of my very best friend’s wedding! It’s incredible to not only witness, but capture such a magical time in her life. Kelsi and Jeremy incorporated their love for music (several ways) in their darling DIY wedding! First and foremost, Jeremy designed their invitations (he is a graphic designer) which were a concert poster and ticket. One of their favors was a cd with music from bands they have seen live together (LOVE that!) which complimented their personalized guitar picks quite nicely! Jeremy and Kelsi first met at a show with a Beatles tribute band called The Daytrippers, so it was only fitting that they played at their wedding! As if all of that wasn’t spectacular enough, Jeremy and Kelsi wrote a song which they performed for the guests at the reception.

Here’s what Kelsi had to say about the song they performed: Our song that we sang at the reception was original lyrics sang to the tune of “Fireworks after midnight” by Gold Motel. I came up with the lyrics using entries we had written to each other in a journal we kept while we were dating. We named our song “Two-Sided Love.”

Andrea and Frank hail from Seattle, but had a tiny wedding (only ten folks!) in Maryland. The next day they opted for some casual shots, and had a romantic outing. They wanted to incorporate their love of music in the session, so they included some of their favorite records! A sunny afternoon, a bike ride, and record listening – can’t complain about a day like that!

With the jingly riffs and the catchy beat this is an immediate foot tapper! Add the sweet crooning of Bethany and you definitely have a love song soon to be stuck in your head! Although it is a serenade to her favorite place, the Cali coastline, the pure elation in this song is perfect for Summer and would be an instant hit on a mix!

Oh Nancy, how I love you! I have a lot of her albums, but I’ve never owned this 45 in such great condition. Lady Bird is one of my all time favorite songs, so I’m thrilled to share it with you if you’ve never heard it. Granted, I have included it on mixes I’ve made here and there, but now it stands on it’s own. Well, with it’s B Side, Sand…which is also fantastic. Nancy and Lee, I adore thee!

This week the internet and I have been in a bit of a snafu. While it’s kinda been great being unplugged most of the days this week, I know it’s not great for those that want the wedding goodness. I’m sorry for the lack of post today! The internet has been acting up and has been avoiding me all day. I downloaded an app to let me post this apology to you all from my phone. May you fill the silence with your favorite record!

Oh man, this wedding is essential to see! Jeremy and Bailey‘s carefree style is contagious and this is the kind of wedding you never want to end. With a location like Boone, it’s pure magic! The weekend was full of dancing, tubing, swimming, great weather, and beautiful love. The two love bird musicians had their friends’ band the Red State Ramblers (from Kentucky) play…which certainly kept the energy alive! Mixed in with the old time music from the band, their first dance was to “Remember the Mountain Bed” by Wilco and Billy Bragg. I decided to start the post with the gorgeous video, which really captures the essence of this stunning soiree!

Blasted Canyons – Get High

I first heard of Blasted Canyons when the Castle Face Group Flex Volume 1 came out sometime last year. I decided to re-visit a particular song because I’m feelin’ the fuzz of the SF band today! With a sound reminiscent of a couple of my favorites like Thee Oh Sees and The Fresh and Onlys, it only makes sense that I’m totally diggin’ this combo of talent. I hope this adds a bit of high for your Tuesday!
